GENTEXT/REMARKS/1. This MARADMIN summarizes updates to Defense Readiness Reporting System-Marine Corps (DRRS-MC) scheduled for 26 July 2018.
2. DRRS-MC updates will include: an overall reduction of required remarks, an extensive overhaul of the personnel page, and a warning to prevent users from using DRRS-MC in internet explorer compatibility view mode.
3. Reduction of required remarks.
3.A. The number of required remarks in DRRS-MC was reduced from 25 to 13. Reason remarks for each resource area were eliminated along with remarks that were almost exclusively copied and pasted from other parts of the report. Reducing the number of remarks will increase the overall quality of information provided on monthly readiness reports.
4. Update to the personnel page.
4.A. The personnel page now contains a consolidated data entry tool, which simplifies input for the user. The input tool is collapsible when not in use, and will populate information onto all areas of the page. Assigned strength is now broken down by MOS type in a cumulative list by the input tool, MOSFL remains a single input for each segment. The segments in the input tool are separated by Marine Officer (MO), Marine Enlisted (ME), Navy Officer (NO), and Navy Enlisted (NE). The “other” non-deployable category was removed along with several other administrative updates. Concise rollover definitions of all recent updates are provided across the page.
5. Proactive detection and warning of Internet Explorer (IE) compatibility view mode.
5.A. Using DRRS-MC in compatibility view mode significantly degrades viewing and submitting a report. The system will now be able to proactively warn users who are detected using compatibility view mode. A large warning sign will alert users of the problem and provide step by step instructions to correct the issue.
6. DRRS-MC will update on Thursday, 26 July from 1800 to approximately 2000 Eastern Standard Time (EST). Users will not be able to access DRRS-MC while the system is updating. All in progress reports will have to be deleted as part of the update. Users are encouraged to complete any in progress reports prior to the update.
7. Way Ahead. The July updates to DRRS-MC are part of an enduring effort to improve the breadth, reliability, and utility of USMC readiness data. The PP&O Readiness Branch and MARFOR and MEF readiness offices are prepared and capable of providing any additional support. Commanders and units are encouraged to provide additional recommendations to strengthen service readiness policy and improve the accuracy and reliability of readiness reporting.
8. Release authorized by Lieutenant General Brian D. Beaudreault, Deputy Commandant, Plans, Policies, and Operations.//
