Biggest Loser challenge

Biggest Loser is back, kick off your New Year with the Health and Wellness Center's Biggest Loser 4 Challenge.

It's important to keep your weight in check as an increase in weight means an increase in risk for conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, and cancer. So make healthy weight and a healthy lifestyle the goals for 2013. Scott AFB Biggest Loser 4 challenge is a team approach to increase physical activity, healthier eating and achieving a healthy weight. If members are at a healthy weight already, they can still participate as a great motivator to the teammates while helping the team earn wellness points through physical activity and healthy eating.

The team consists of two to four individuals together and an assigned a team captain. Make it fun and come up with a team name. The challenge runs eight weeks, beginning Jan. 23 and ending March 20. Weigh-ins will be Jan. 22 and 23; walk in as a team from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. At that time, an overview of the challenge will be provided. This challenge is open to everyone who works on base, family members, and retirees.

Last year, teams lost a total of 841 pounds and earned 40,655 wellness points. All participants who complete the challenge receive a HAWC incentive gift and prizes will be awarded to the top three teams with the highest percentage of weight loss and most wellness points scored.
