9/11 OBSERVATION CEREMONY MEETING - TODAY
We are one month away from the 10th Anniversary of 9/11 and Team Scott is conducting a ceremony in memoriam of the victims who lost their lives on Sept. 11, 2001.
The two part event will provide a point of reflection for our community and inspire us as we work to protect the very freedom that was attacked that day.
On Sunday, 11 September, the event will begin at 1530 on the Parade Field with "A Run/Walk to Remember" where a piece of the World Trade Center will complete its journey to Scott AFB in a run & walk through base whereby members of the United States Armed Forces will participate in bringing the artifact to its final resting place in front of the 375th AMW Headquarters.
All Team Scott members & their families are encouraged to participate. The ceremony will conclude with the formal acceptance of the World Trade Center Artifact by Col. Michael Hornitschek, 375th AMW Commander.

CLASSIFIED HARD DRIVE/MAGNETIC MEDIA DESTRUCTION SYSTEM
HQ AMC has procured equipment for destruction of classified hard drives and other magnetic media up to Top Secret Sensitive Compartmented Information/Special Access Required. The destruction system is located in Building 4024, ADPE Warehouse, and is available for use by all Scott AFB organizations.
Use can be scheduled by contacting the 375 CS/SCPSE Base Equipment Control Officer at DSN 576-3550/2025 or commercial 618-256-3550/2025. Normal availability is from 0900-1100 and 1300-1500 Monday-Friday, except for holidays and 375 AMW down/family days.
Any questions concerning the system's classified destruction level of certification can be directed to HQ AMC Combat Capabilities Directorate (DSN 576-8999/8987 or commercial 618-256-8987).

JAMES GYM TRACK RE-SURFACING PROJECT EXTENDED
The James Gym track re-surfacing project has been extended and is scheduled to re-open 1 Oct. The cardio component of the fitness assessment test will continue to take place on the running trail (along Golf Course Rd) behind the Honor Guard building #386. All testers should continue to report to the James Sports Center Conference Room during this time. They will be briefed on procedures to be taken for the run portion. All official testers will be in numbered jerseys and we ask that they are given the right away while on the running trail. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. ARMED FORCE CLASSIFICATION TEST (ASAVAB Equivalent) - 16, 30 AUG AND 15 SEP
Due to additional demand as a result of AF Special Duty Screening Team Visit and other AF retraining initiatives, the Base Testing Office has added two additional AFCT testing dates. All AFCT exams begin sharply at 0800. Call Base Testing at 256-5290/6364 for more info.
AMC ICON PERFORMANCE - 12 AUG
The AMC Icon Base Level Competition will be held at the Scott Club on 12 Aug at 1900. Everyone is invited to watch the contestants compete. Entry is free! Doors will open at 1630, with light hors d'oeuvres being served until 1830. Anyone wishing to partake in our fabulous hors d'oeuvres can do so for a small fee; club members are free, non-members - $10, and children 12 and under are just $5.
Anyone, age 21 & older, is invited to join us after the competition for our ALL-NIGHTER! Enjoy a live DJ and drink specials. The Active Duty SAFB Winner will compete against other AMC Base finalists at the Command Finals in October here.
Prizes are to be awarded to the top 3 finalists at the Base Level Competition; 1st - $500, 2nd - $300 & 3rd - $200. NOTE: Both lounges will be closed the evening of the competition. The Stars & Strikes Bowling Center is offering COLORAMA bowling Saturday, 13 Aug, at 1900. This is a game of skill to where money can be won based on getting a STRIKE with specified combinations or color combinations. You could even win a Vegas vacation package! The Cardinal Creek golf course will be hosting a PGA Partner golf tournament Sunday, 14 Aug, with morning tee times. Format for this tournament is an individual handicapped stroke play in combination with PGA partners score. MISSOULA CHILDREN'S THEATRE AUDITIONS - 15 AUG
Auditions for the Missoula Children's Theatre (MCT) production of "King Arthur's Quest" will be held on 15 Aug, 0900 at the Youth Center. There are roles for students entering 1st grade through 12th. Approximately 50-60 youth will be cast to appear in the show with the MCT Tour Actor/Director.
There is no guarantee that everyone who auditions will be cast in the play. Youth wishing to audition must arrive by the scheduled starting time and stay for the entire two-hour session. Rehearsals will be conducted daily from 1000 to noon, and then begin again after lunch, from 1230 to 1430. This is a group audition - no advance preparation is necessary, but a smile never hurts. POOCH POOL PARTY - 16 AUG
Calling all dog lovers! Come on out for Outdoor Recreation's 5th Annual Pooch Pool Party on 16 Aug at the Essex House Pool from 1700 to 1900. Event is FREE! Enjoy prizes, contests, treats and a pet/family swim. Contests will begin at 1730 and the pet/family swim will be from 1700 to 1900. Contests include Pooch Karaoke, Pooch/Owner Look-A-Like, Best Dressed and Stupid Pet Tricks (non-water).
The SAFB Veterinary shot requirements must be met, owners must be prepared to present records upon request, and are responsible for all pet cleanups and must maintain control of their pooch in and out of pool on a leash at all times.
Owners may bring multiple pooches however; there must be a separate person controlling each pooch. Basic SAFB pool guidelines still apply and children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult. This will be the last event at the pool for the summer; the pool will be drained and cleaned for the winter at the end of this event. Remember to bring your pooper scooper and plastic bags, and let your pooch party!

2011 AF ATHLETE OF THE YEAR NOMINATION PACKETS
The Air Force annually recognizes an AF Male and Female Athlete of the Year. To ensure all deserving athletes are considered for this prestigious award, nominations are being sought from Scott AFB. PASS OVERVIEW WORKSHOP - 17 AUG
Parent Advocates for Students and Schools (PASS) will hold a workshop on Wednesday, 17 August 2011 called "Rock with our Flock" PASS Overview Workshop. This workshop is part of an on-going effort to educate parents how to effectively advocate for their children, within the military lifestyle of frequent moves. PASS workshops are led by parents and local educators who help military families become better advocates for their children while transferring from school to school due to military relocations.
