GENTEXT/REMARKS/1.  The 2018 Women of Color Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Conference will be held 11-13 October 2018 at the Detroit Marriott at the Renaissance Center, 400 Renaissance Drive West, Detroit, MI 48243.  Subject to conference  approval, HQMC M&RA Equal Opportunity and Diversity Management (MPE) will sponsor a limited number of conference registration fees and all travel expenses. 
2.  The Women of Color STEM Conference is a three-day multicultural event for women in STEM fields.  The conference encourages women to improve their education and careers in science, technology, engineering and math fields.  Women of Color STEM participants learn from the top minds in the industry and collaborate with their peers.  This conference creates an informal, trusted community that provides support specifically to women in STEM careers.  The host of the event, Career Communications Group, is a non-federal entity wholly independent of the Marine Corps.  More information can be found on the Women of Color STEM website at https:(slash)(slash)intouch.ccgmag.com.
3.  Admin and Logistics:  Commanders may authorize Temporary Additional Duty for Marines, civilian Marines, and Sailors who are attached to their unit.  Local travel is authorized for members in the local area.  All Marine Corps funded participation will be  coordinated through the MPE Branch.  Reservations will be given on a first-come first-served basis. Rental cars are not authorized.  Commands are not authorized to use command funding for rental cars.
