GENTEXT/REMARKS/1.  The purpose of this message is to solicit nominees for the 2018 Marine Corps Motor Transport Awards Program (MCMTAP).  The MCMTAP was established in order to recognize the outstanding achievements of individual Motor Transport Marines and Marine Corps organizations.  There are a total of 12 award categories encompassing all aspects of the motor transport military occupational field.
The award categories are as follows:
    Marine Corps Motor Transport Officer of the Year
    Marine Corps Motor Transport Maintenance Officer of the Year
    Marine Corps Motor Transport Operations Chief of the Year
    Marine Corps Motor Transport Maintenance Chief of the Year
    Marine Corps Motor Transport Operations Noncommissioned Officer
    (NCO) of the Year
    Marine Corps Motor Transport Maintenance NCO of the Year
    Marine Corps Motor Transport Operator of the Year
    Marine Corps Motor Transport Maintenance Technician of the Year
    Marine Corps Motor Transport Military Instructor of the Year
    Marine Corps Motor Transport Civilian Instructor of the Year
    Marine Corps Motor Transport Unit of the Year
    Marine Corps Motor Transport Maintenance Unit of the Year
2.  Selection of award recipients will be made by an awards board convened by Headquarters Marine Corps (HQMC) Installations and Logistics (I and L).  The board will be comprised of senior members of the Motor Transport community.  Announcement of award winners and details regarding presentation of awards will be provided in future correspondence.
3.  Action.
3.a.  Commands with personnel and/or organizations meeting the criteria contained in the reference are encouraged to submit nominations.  Commands are directed to review the reference in its entirety for changes and ensure that individual and unit nomination packages are created and submitted in accordance with the reference and the information contained in this MARADMIN.
3.b.  Templates, submission and routing procedures are provided in the reference above (MCO 1650.61).  For additional information utilize the points of contact listed above.
3.c.  Each formal learning center can submit one civilian and one military instructor of the year nomination package for final selection by the MCMTAP awards board.
3.d.  The 2018 MCMTAP competitive period is from 1 October 2017 to 30 September 2018.
3.e.  Nominations must be received by HQMC, I and L, Logistics Policy and Capabilities branch (LPC-1) no later than 30 November 2018.  Due to the volume of award recommendations received, late or incomplete nominations will not be considered.  Commands are to scan signed complete packages, with attachments, and send PDF file to the message points of contact via the U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Research and Development and Engineering Center safe access file exchange (AMRDEC safe) https:(slash)(slash)safe.amrdec.army.mil/safe/.  Mailed copies are not required or desired.
3.f.  It is recommended that each submitting command identified in the reference publish a submission schedule in order to screen, evaluate, and select those nominations that will be forwarded through their chain of command allowing for sufficient time for nominations to arrive at HQMC, DC I and L, LPC-1 no later than 30 November 2018.
4.  Responsibilities:  HQMC, I and L is responsible for coordinating Marine Corps participation in all MCMTAP selections and those ceremonies conducted by the awards sponsor.
5.  Reserve applicability.  This awards program is applicable to the Marine Corps Reserve.
