GENTEXT/REMARKS/1. To announce notary training requirements for Marine Corps personnel authorized to act as notaries under references (a) and (b). Training required by reference (c) must be completed prior to performing notarial acts in the performance of their duties. Persons who are authorized but not performing notarial acts are not required to take this training.
2. Training Slides and Duties and Responsibilities Form are posted on the Staff Judge Advocate to the Commandant website: http:(slash)(slash)www.hqmc.marines.mil/sja/unithome.aspx under the heading “JAD Resources.”  Before authorizing performance as a notary, the cognizant Officer-in-Charge will verify training completion by signing the Certificate of Completion that is posted on the same website. The unit will retain a copy of the Certificate as well as a copy of the signed Duties and Responsibilities Form.
3. Failure to complete notary training due to military exigencies will not affect the validity of properly executed notarial acts, but training should be completed as soon as possible.
