In August/September 2005, with the soon to be outgoing C-130H aircraft, the 137th Airlift Wing provided disaster relief in the aftermath of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita in Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama. The aircraft and crew flew 48 missions and 159 sorties adding another 344.4 hours to their already impressive flying safety record which has surpassed over 600,000 mishap-free flying hours. The 137th executed 100 percent of its sorties with an on time rate of 98.7 percent, hauling 690.9 short tons of water, food and supplies to the region. The planes and their crew also carried 2,172 passengers including Army and Air National Guard troops, Oklahoma County Sheriffs Department (K-9 unit), and numerous dignitaries and civilians including newspaper, radio and television reporters.

On September 20, 2007, the last three of the C-130Hs assigned to Will Rogers ANG Base left for Pittsburgh, PA. The 137th Airlift Wing and the 185th Airlift Squadron provided aircrews for the C-130s departing and the KC-135 flown to retrieve the aircrew and maintainers. The Wing was commended on its ability to achieve such a seamless operation with the unique ability to fly both aircraft.
