GRISSOM AIR RESERVE BASE, Ind. -- For their meritorious serviceĀ in the U.S. Air Force, 14 Airmen of the 434th Air Refueling Wing were recently presented with
Meritorious Service Medals.
President Lyndon Johnson established the MSM by Executive Order 11448 on Jan. 16, 1969, as the counterpart of the Bronze Star Medal for the recognition of meritorious noncombatant service.
Those receiving the MSM are listed below:

- Senior Master Sgt. Carl Hubbell, 434th Logistics Readiness Squadron
- Senior Master Sgt. Ruth Love, 434th LRS
- Senior Master Sgt. Wesley Marion, 434th Air Refueling Wing
- Senior Master Sgt. John Somsel, 434th Mission Support Squadron
- Senior Master Sgt. Robert Summers, 434th AMDS
- Master Sgt. Jackson Barnett, 434th Security Forces Squadron
- Master Sgt. Thomas Lennon, 434th Force Support Squadron

The 434th ARW at Grissom is the largest
KC-135R Stratotanker unit in the
Air Force Reserve Command. Airmen from the 434th ARW routinely deploy around the world in support of the Air Force mission and U.S. strategic objectives.
