GRISSOM AIR RESERVE BASE, Ind. -- Col. William T. "Tim" Cahoon shakes the hand of and Jessica Mullins, a contracting company project manager, as Tom Weatherwax watches on after the three participated in a groundbreaking ceremony for Grissom?s new air traffic control tower here March 15. The new ATC tower, with a programmed cost of $7.4 million, will replace an existing structure built in 1965. When complete, the nine-story tower will provide Grissom's ATC with increased visibility, training simulator area, increased security, office space and enhanced environmental controls. Grissom ARB is one of only five Air Force Reserve Command bases in the nation and the host unit, the 434th ARW, is equipped with KC-135R Stratotanker aircraft and plays a vital role in the Air Force's  aerial refueling mission.
