GENTEXT/REMARKS/1. The contents of this message have been coordinated with Manpower Management Officer Assignments (MMOA).
2. Purpose. To announce the annual Marine Corps Forces Special Operations Command (MARSOC) Air Officer Selection Board for FY20. The board ensures the most qualified officers are selected to serve within the Marine Corps component of the United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM).
3. This board is intended for active duty Captains and Majors with an assigned 75XX Military Occupational Specialty (MOS). Selected applicants can expect a 24 month tour obligation. Selection is highly competitive and the following criteria will be used to determine selection:
3.a. Applicants must be eligible for permanent change of station orders (PCSO) or permanent change of assignment orders (PCAO) during FY19. Time on station (TOS) waivers will be considered on a case-by-case basis: waiver requests must be submitted via AA form, endorsed by the command and routed to appropriate approval authority IAW ref (a). TOS requirements of Weapons and Tactics Instructors (WTIs) are detailed in ref (b).
3.b. Applicants must have attended/successfully completed Expeditionary Warfare Training Group Atlantic/Pacific (EWTGLANT/PAC) Tactical Air Control Party (TACP) school and be awarded the Additional MOS of 7502 prior to check-in.
3.c. Applicants must be medically qualified to attend Full Spectrum Level C SERE upon assignment to MARSOC if not already Level C SERE complete.
3.d. Applicants should possess a strong fires integration background. Previous Air Officer and Forward Air Controller tours are also highly valued.
4. Interested personnel should contact the MARSOC Assistant Air/Fires Officer, LtCol Lee Hemming, via email at lee.hemming@socom.mil and include name, rank, MOS, email address, and phone number. The MARSOC Assistant Air/Fires Officer will provide each interested party with a Prospective Air Officer Resume and Prospective Air Officer Information Sheet. Applicants must return their Prospective Air Officer Resume (including current official photo from OMPF), Information Sheet and any letters of recommendation via email not later than 31 May 2019 in order to be considered.
5. The MARSOC Air Officer Board will meet on or about 24 June 2019 to review all applications and select Air Officers for assignment to MARSOC in FY20. Board results will be passed via separate correspondence to applicants after final approval is received from MMOA.
6. Additional assignments may open up off-cycle or on a hot-fill basis. Marines should contact their monitors and the points of contact listed in this message for information.
