GENTEXT/REMARKS/1. This message announces available training seats for Marines to attend the September 2019 Music Unit Leader Course (ULC) CID N0355L2 at the Naval School of Music (NAVSOM) aboard Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story, Virginia Beach, Virginia.  This message is provided as a planning tool for commands to nominate Marines for attendance. Due to the length of training, attendance requires a Permanent Change of Station (PCS).
2. This course provides intermediate technical instruction on rehearsing and conducting ceremonial bands, rehearsing and conducting popular music groups, performing the duties of Drum Major for ceremonial bands, analyzing and writing advanced music, and performing technical and non-technical support for performances.
3. Prerequisites.
3.a. 5524 Military Occupational Specialty (MOS).
3.b. Must be a Subsequent Term Alignment Plan (STAP) Marine.
3.c. Must have completed 24 months time on station by 01 August 2019.
3.d. Instrumental proficiency assessment completed no more than 6 months prior to submission.
3.e. ULC Ear Training diagnostic examination completed no more than 3  months prior to submission.
3.f. ULC Music Theory diagnostic examination completed no more than 3 months prior to submission.

4.b. Convene date is 16 September 2019.

6. In accordance with reference (a), this course is a prerequisite for selection to Enlisted Conductor (5519), Drum Major (5521), and Small Ensemble Leader (5522).
7. Nomination packages will consist of:
7.a. Marine Corps Field Music Training Seats Screening Sheet.
7.b. Current copy of Basic Training Record (BTR).
7.c. Navy E-Learning Training Transcript.
8. All nomination packages will be submitted to Communication Directorate, Marine Corps Field Music no later than 2359 EST 21 April 2019. In the event more nominations are received than seats available, a selection panel will convene to determine the most qualified applicants for attendance.
