SUBJ/LABOR DAY MESSAGE 2019//
GENTEXT/REMARKS/1. Established in 1894, Labor Day is dedicated to the achievements and ingenuity of the American worker, whose dedication has contributed significantly to this great Nation’s continued prosperity. Traditionally, Labor Day marks the end of summer and provides one last opportunity for social gatherings and recreational activities typical of the season.
2. As we embark upon this holiday weekend, I charge every Marine and Sailor to stay faithful to our core values. Exercise good judgment and sound decision making in representing our Corps and in planning and executing off-duty activities.
3. Leaders, engage with each of your Marines and Sailors, be familiar with their plans and help them identify and mitigate risk associated with those plans. It takes the active participation of every Marine to preserve our most precious asset, the individual Marine, Sailor, and Civilian Marine.
4. Enjoy this well-deserved break, and return to duty refreshed and ready to answer our Nation’s call.
5. Semper Fidelis, David H. Berger, General, U.S. Marine Corps, Commandant of the Marine Corps.
