GENTEXT/REMARKS/1. The FY20 NROTC panel recently convened to select Marine Officers for assignment to NROTC staff billets during 2020. The seven-member panel considered the records of nearly 100 qualified applicants for the positions of Marine Officer Instructor.
2. Assignment to NROTC staff duty is a voluntary process. The panel considered the requirements of the universities, career progression, competitiveness, preferences of the applicant, and needs of the Marine Corps. Questions regarding selection should be addressed through the primary MOS monitor.

4. Primary selectees are to accept via email to their monitor NLT 10 January 2020. All requests to decline selection must be made via naval correspondence with command endorsement. All requests will be considered in the context of the needs of the Marine Corps for approval or disapproval. Requests for declination by officers who volunteered and were selected for NROTC duty will not normally receive favorable consideration. There is no deferral of NROTC/MOI selection. Any officer intending to decline must call or email his or her monitor prior to submitting the declination request. A copy of the declination letter will be submitted for inclusion into the officers OMPF.
5. Each officer assigned to NROTC duty will become part of the university staff. Orders will not be released until nominations have been accepted by each respective university to which assigned.
