GENTEXT/REMARKS/1. This MARADMIN provides guidance for the Marine Corps implementation of Unit Marine Awareness and Prevention Integrated Training (UMAPIT, pronounced you-map-it) 3.0 beginning 1 January 2020. UMAPIT 3.0 replaces UMAPIT 2.0. UMAPIT is an annual training for all Marines that covers stress management and awareness of suicide, substance misuse, domestic abuse, and child abuse and neglect.
2. UMAPIT 3.0 incorporates evidence-informed practices and raises awareness about common risk factors and warning signals associated with a range of behavioral health issues. UMAPIT 3.0 includes decision-making scenarios that reference the stress continuum, and provides information on social media and suicide. UMAPIT training should be no less than 90 minutes. Quality facilitation and discussion will increase learning and may increase training time. Marine facilitators who have completed a UMAPIT 3.0 master trainer or train the trainer course should teach UMAPIT whenever possible. Trained UMAPIT facilitators should conduct training in groups of no more than 30 personnel. Marine facilitators may co-facilitate with Embedded Preventive Behavioral Health Capability (EPBHC) staff, where available. Commanders are encouraged to develop strong local policy that supports best practices for UMAPIT training implementation.
3. The UMAPIT 3.0 code for entry into the Marines Corps Training Information Management System (MCTIMS), upon completion, is B9.
4. Marines chosen to attend UMAPIT 3.0 master trainer or facilitator training courses must be an E-5 or above and should be selected for their maturity, excellent communication skills, and interest in behavioral health concepts. Master trainers are identified by MCTIMS training code BI and facilitators are identified by training code BJ. All installations may receive master trainer or facilitator training by requesting support via the EPBHC Director or Headquarters Marine Corps (HQMC) Combat Operational Stress Control Capability (HQMC_COSCC@usmc.mil).
5. UMAPIT 3.0 facilitator guide and media are both necessary to facilitate UMAPIT 3.0 and may be downloaded using the MAPIT Dashboard on The Gear Locker. Register for a Gear Locker account at thegearlocker.org and navigate to the MAPIT Dashboard by clicking the Behavioral Health tab then clicking UMAPIT on the dropdown.
6. UMAPIT 3.0 was introduced via a series of core master trainer courses conducted by HQMC staff from November 2019 through January 2020 at I, II, and III Marine Expeditionary Forces; Marine Forces Reserve; and Marine Corps Installations National Capital Region-Marine Corps Base Quantico.
7. Installations or units requiring additional information concerning UMAPIT 3.0 should contact the point of contact listed in this message.
8. This MARADMIN is canceled 01 January 2023.
9. This MARADMIN is applicable to the Marine Corps Total Force.
