NARR/REF A IS MARADMIN 025/19 WHICH DIRECTS CAC MODERNIZATION REQUIREMENTS TO THE TOTAL FORCE. REF B IS THE DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE (DOD) CHIEF INFORMATION OFFICER (CIO) MEMORANDUM “RELIEF FROM MODERNIZING THE COMMON ACCESS CARD – STREAMLINING IDENTITY AND IMPROVING OPERATIONAL INTEROPERABILITY MAY 1, 2020 DEADLINES.”//
GENTEXT/REMARKS/1. Background. Ref (a) was issued to align the Marine Corps activities with DoD directed requirements to transition to the Federal Personal Identity Verification (PIV) Authentication (Auth) certificate for all user authentication. Ref (b) provides an extension of previously established deadlines due to the evolving COVID-19 pandemic.
2. Guidance. In accordance with ref (b), the deadline for all Marine Corps NIPRNET web/applications owners to transition to PIVAuth certificate for user authentication is extended to 31 July 2020. All activities and reporting required in ref (a) remain. The DoD CIO will reevaluate the situation on 26 Apr 2020 and provide updated guidance if applicable.
