GENTEXT/REMARKS./1. PURPOSE. This MARADMIN announces the Manpower and Reserve Affairs (MRA) plan for active component cross-FY extensions to support future manpower inventory requirements.
2. BACKGROUND. In response to COVID-19 and future manpower changes, MRA has developed a short term retention plan that allows First Term Marines the opportunity to extend their service in order to fulfill the manpower needs of the Marine Corps. FY20 First Term Marines are still encouraged to seek reenlistment if boatspaces remain in their Primary MOS.
3. Concept of Operations
3.A. First Term Marines in any MOS with an EAS in FY20 are eligible to apply for a cross-FY extension up to 12 months. Marines who apply will be eligible to submit for reenlistment in the FY21 retention campaign. Marines who apply will not be eligible for promotion until reenlisted. Marines who apply will not be eligible for PCS.
3.B. Targeted First Term Marines with an EAS in FY20 are eligible to apply for a 24 month extension so long as the new EAS date does not exceed 30 September 2022. Marines who accept a 24 month extension will be eligible for reenlistment in the FY22 retention campaign. Marines who accept a 24 month extension will remain eligible for promotion. Marines who accept a 24 month extension will be eligible to execute PCS orders based on the needs of the Marine Corps.
