GENTEXT/REMARKS/1.  On behalf of the United States Marine Corps, I salute the United States Coast Guard on the occasion of your 230th anniversary.
2.  Since 4 August 1790, the Coast Guard, our Nation's oldest continuous seagoing service, has been the premier force in maritime safety, security, and stewardship.  Today, you continue your noble mission of saving lives, protecting American coasts and ports, and guarding U.S. interests overseas.
3.  For 230 years, the Coast Guard has held fast to the core values of honor, respect, and devotion to duty since the Revolution, through World War II, Vietnam, and in Iraq and Afghanistan.  Today, all Marines honor your service, sacrifices, and unique contribution to our nation.  Happy 230th and Semper Paratus!
4.  Semper Fidelis, David H. Berger, General, U.S. Marine Corps, Commandant of the Marine Corps.//
