Gentext/rmks/1. Purpose. The Commanding General Training and Education Command (TECOM), has published the Marine Corps Doctrinal Publication (MCDP) 7, Learning, Interactive E-Book. The link to the MCDP 7 Interactive E-Book is available to all Marines via the website https:(slash)(slash)www.tecom.marines.mil/mcdp7.
2. Background
2.a. On 20 February 2020, the Commandant of the Marine Corps, General David H. Berger, approved MCDP 7, Learning, the first entirely new doctrinal publication released by the Marine Corps since 2001. Following this release, TECOM released the MCDP 7 audiobook, the first official audiobook of an MCDP.
2.b. By releasing MCDP 7, Learning, we recognize learning as a priority for the Marine Corps; by releasing the MCDP 7 audiobook, we make it more accessible than previous MCDPs; and by releasing the MCDP 7 Interactive E-Book, we take the next logical step towards enhancing our institutional learning culture. The MCDP 7 Interactive E-Book enables collaboration and provides Marines with an online interactive platform to engage with the contents of MCDP 7 through a wide variety of learning experiences. Marines can access this Interactive E-Book via a smartphone, tablet, laptop, or any device with a web browser. This E-book supplements MCDP 7 with additional content such as images, videos, audio, discussion questions, knowledge checks, and polls, allowing Marines to better engage with and reflect on the principles presented in MCDP 7.
2.c. This MCDP 7 Interactive E-Book’s target audience is all Marines.
3. Coordinating instructions
3.a. All Marines can access the MCDP 7 Interactive E-Book via the link provided in the first paragraph. This site contains detailed instructions on how to access the E-Book and how to create user accounts. Once Marines create an account and select their respective units, they can then engage in collaborative discussions within these units. The lowest echelon of units selectable will be O-5 level commands. These commands will then be able to create individual groups within if desired.
3.b. When creating an account, there are three options for accounts: Learner, Instructor, and Administrator. Detailed instruction on how to create and use Administrator and Instructor accounts can be found at the link referenced in the paragraph 1.
3.b.1. Learner account. All Marines can sign up for a Learner account. All individuals with Learner accounts will be able to access the E-Book in its entirety and participate in discussion forums if desired.
3.b.2. Instructor account. Individuals assigned Instructor accounts will have the permissions to moderate and facilitate discussion groups within their units. Individuals desiring to create an instructor account will need a passcode that will be provided to their unit training administrators.
3.b.3. Administrator account. Individuals assigned Administrator accounts will have the permissions to create separate groups or classes within their units, as well as move individuals within their units into different groups and classes. Appropriate unit representatives (e.g., command S-3 training representatives) desiring to create an Administrator account will need a passcode that can be requested through the link in paragraph 1. These administrators will also be provided the Instructor account passcodes (as referenced in paragraph 3.b.2.) and should assign these roles to the appropriate individuals within their units.
4. This MARADMIN is applicable to Marine Corps total force.
5. Release authorized by Lieutenant General Lewis A. Craparotta, Commanding General, Training and Education Command.//
