GENTEXT/REMARKS/1. This MARADMIN provides official notification and congratulations from the Marine Corps Director of Intelligence (DIRINT), Brigadier General (BGen) M.G. Carter, to the Marine Corps recipients of the 2020 Intelligence Community (IC) National Counterintelligence (CI) and Security Professional Awards. On 29 September 2020, the National CI and Security Center (NCSC) officially notified the Commandant of the Marine Corps (CMC), General D.H. Berger, of the Service award recipients and recognized the Marine Corps award recipients.
2. The annual IC National CI and Security Professional Awards are for those individuals or teams throughout the IC who, through exceptional accomplishments or service, enhance the standing and stature of professions, functions, and disciplines that support CI and security missions. This year’s nominations for all categories were assessed by members of the IC National CI and Security Professional Awards Program Board, made up of senior CI and security professionals from various IC agencies representing decades of CI and security experience. The nominations were evaluated according to levels of innovation, creativity, and originality of programs and processes; integration of knowledge and information in achieving results; and the ultimate impact of the nominees’ activities in support of national security.
3. DIRINT is pleased to announce the following recipients of the 2020 Intelligence Community National CI and Security Professional Awards.
3.a. Education/Training, Team Award. I Marine Expeditionary Force, 1st Intelligence Battalion is recognized for superior CI training and education in support of CI/Human Intelligence (HUMINT) Marines. Their direct contributions resulted in immeasurable impact across the strategic and operational level.

3.b. Physical and Technical Security Team Award. I Marine Expeditionary Force, 1st Intelligence Battalion is recognized for superior CI operations, integration, and support to the physical security of more than a dozen major commands and locations across the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) Area of Responsibility (AOR) leading to tactical, operational, and strategic level impacts.

3.c. Additionally, DIRINT expresses sincere gratitude to Mr. Lawrence Young, who represented the Marine Corps as an IC Review Board member. This board reviewed 84 nomination packages and selected 24 winners.
4. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 restrictions, NCSC is unable to host the presentation ceremony this year. To honor the 2020 winners and recognize their significant accomplishments, NCSC recorded a congratulatory video, available on the secure network.
