GENTEXT/REMARKS/1.  Situation.  Joint-service professional development opportunities for enlisted Marines are limited.  However, Marine Corps University, with assistance from the Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps, has established a long-term relationship with the United States Air Force Senior Noncommissioned Officer Academy (AFSNCOA) resulting in a controlled number of seats for the Marine Corps.  This academy is located at Gunter Annex, Maxwell Air Force Base (AFB), Alabama.  The AFSNCOA is an intensive five-week course comprised of the following core areas:  Military Professional, Joint Warfighter, Operational Manager, Senior Communicator, and Combined Operations.  During the course, students will be required to read, write extensively, and speak publicly.
2.  Mission.  The Director, Senior Enlisted Academy (SEA) will manage the quotas and coordinate the attendance of qualified Marines to AFSNCOA.
3.  Execution.  The number of allocations the Marine Corps can submit per class is listed directly following each class number in parenthesis.

3.A.  Allocations for each course are as follows:

3.B.  Funding is available through Training and Education Command (TECOM) Worldwide Travel (WWT).  Director, SEA will coordinate student funding for the course through TECOM.  A rental vehicle is encouraged, but will not be funded by WWT.  The students parent command is responsible for rental car funding.
3.C.  Marine Corps Forces (MARFOR) and other allocated units shall nominate Marines in the rank of master sergeant and first sergeant to attend the course.  Nominees must be submitted by the Marines MARFOR or allocated commands G-3 in coordination with the respective MARFOR or allocated command Sergeant Major.  Nominations will only be accepted from the MARFOR or allocated commands.
3.D.  Course Prerequisites.
3.D.1.  Nominees must have completed the Senior Enlisted Joint Professional Military Education II, accessed at https:(slash)(slash)jkodirect.jten.mil/.
3.D.2.  Nominated first sergeants must have completed resident First Sergeants Course and the First Sergeant/Master Sergeant Regional Seminar.  Nominated master sergeants must have completed First Sergeant/Master Sergeant Regional Seminar.  The respective course completion codes must be reflected in Marine Corps Total Force System (MCTFS) prior to student nomination.
4.  Administration and Logistics.
4.A.  The following information must be submitted for consideration of attendance to the AFSNCOA.
4.A.1.  Course number.
4.A.2.  Last name, First name, Middle Initial, Electronic Data Interchange Personal Identifier, and Military Occupational Specialty.
4.A.3.  Grade and date of rank.
4.A.4.  End of current contract.
4.A.5.  MCTFS confirmation of the prerequisites listed in paragraph 3.D.1.

4.A.7.  The Basic Training Record will be submitted to provide additional information, since photos are no longer required.
4.B.  MARFOR G-3s will submit nominees directly to the Director, SEA:  diana.pugh@usmc.mil and sepme.3@usmcu.edu.
4.C.  All nominations must be received by the submission deadline in paragraph 3 for the respective course number the nominee desires to attend.
4.D.  Director, SEA will coordinate student registration with AFSNCOA.
4.E.  Lodging.  All attendees are required to stay at the Bachelor Enlisted Quarters, Gunter Annex, Maxwell AFB, Alabama.
4.F.  Reporting.  All approved students will check-in on the respective report date to the lodging office at Gunter Annex, Building 1017, Maxwell AFB, Alabama.  Attendees will receive further guidance upon check-in.
4.G.  Orders.  Parent commands are responsible for proper orders preparation.  Indicate orders are reporting orders, government quarters available, and government messing is not available.
4.H.  Uniform requirement.  Will be provided via separate correspondence.
