SUBJ/THANKSGIVING SAFETY MESSAGE 2020//
GENTEXT/REMARKS/1.  Sergeant Major Black and I want to wish every Marine, Sailor, Civilian Marine, and sea service family a memorable and joyous Thanksgiving.  We are very proud of each of you.  Despite this year’s unusual challenges, you met and expertly overcome every obstacle.  Your professionalism, devotion to duty, and willingness to endure hardship are extraordinary.
2.  Thanksgiving officially kicks off the holiday season, and there is no doubt that it will be different for many of us this year.  Though parts of 2020 have been uniquely challenging, we encourage you to use this Thanksgiving to reflect and focus on the blessings of the past year.  Many of those blessings are in the men and women we serve side-by-side with every day, and I ask that you make an extra effort to take care of one another.
3.  In the words of author G. K. Chesterton, “When it comes to life the critical thing is whether you take things for granted or take them with gratitude.”  Let’s use this Thanksgiving to remember all the things we have to be grateful for.  Sergeant Major Black and I are honored to serve alongside every one of you, and we wish you a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday.
4.  Semper Fidelis.  David H. Berger, General, U.S. Marine Corps, Commandant of the Marine Corps.//
