GENTEXT/REMARKS/1.  Each year, Headquarters, Marine Corps (HQMC), Opportunity, Diversity, and Inclusion Branch (MPE) and the Equal Employment Opportunity Branch (EEO) convene boards to select award recipients for numerous Department of Defense (DoD) and affinity group awards.
2.  All Marines and civilian employees, regardless of rank, race, ethnicity, gender, religion, or sexual orientation are eligible for nomination.
3.  Commanders may nominate individuals pending conference approval to alleviate short-fused notifications and enhance participation.
4.  A sample nomination package may be found on the MPE website at https:(slash)(slash)www.manpower.usmc.mil/webcenter/portal/MPE_OA.  The picture required as part of the package will not be part of the awardee selection process.  The photo may be used by the awarding organization in award ceremony publications or displays.  Photo submissions should be a high-resolution, command-style photo in the Service “A” uniform.
5.  The following second quarter FY21 outreach awards nominations are due to MPE via the points of contact by 23 February 2021:
5.a.  The Federal Asian Pacific American Council (FAPAC) Awards (civilian/military).  Nominee fostered an innovative and harmonious environment between the Uniformed Services and Asian American and Pacific Islander communities.  The nominee displayed exceptional character that distinguishes an individual as an outstanding leader, role model or mentor by promoting the development or advancement of members of the Uniformed Services.
5.b.  The Joint Women’s Leadership Symposium (JWLS).  Four total recipients (one field grade officer, one company grade officer, one staff non-commissioned officer, and one junior Marine) will be awarded from the pool of nominees.  Nominees should be premier examples of inspirational and innovative leadership, who have demonstrated furthering the mission and vision of Sea Services Leadership Association of empowering a network of strong and inspirational women leaders who serve and developing women to unleash their leadership potential and increase the effectiveness of the organizations in which they serve.
5.c.  The Society of American Indian Government Employee (SAIGE) Awards (civilian/military).  The purpose of these awards is to recognize agencies and individuals (civilian or military), who through their personal commitment and professional initiative have made demonstrable contributions in recruiting, retaining, and providing career advancement opportunities to American Indian and Alaska Native employees in the Federal workforce.  Additionally they have assisted with the advancement of American Indian and Alaska Native professionals, role models and future leaders.
5.d.  National Blacks in Government (BIG) Meritorious Service Awards (civilian/military).  The BIG Military Meritorious Service Award honors military members and Department of Defense (DoD) civilian employees, men and women, who have supported the DoD mission, overseas contingency operations, or whose attributes best epitomized the qualities and core values of their respective Military Service or other DoD Component.
5.e.  Department of Defense Disability Awards (military and civilian).  This award recognizes individuals with disabilities who have honorably supported the DoD mission, who offer exemplary contributions to the workplace, and/or whose qualities best epitomize the core values of the DON.
6.  Affinity groups are non-federal entities and are not endorsed by the USMC.
