GENTEXT/REMARKS/1. This is a DC PP&O, Naval Safety Center, and DC I&L coordinated message. Per ref (a), parachute safety inspections are to be conducted on all Marine Corps commands with a parachute capability at least once every two years. Assist visits will be provided upon request by the command or as directed by DC, PP&O, Expeditionary Policies Branch (POE). Per ref (b), Helicopter Rope Suspension Technique (HRST) locker inspections will be conducted at least once every two years on all Marine Corps units authorized to conduct refresher training. HRST assist visits will be conducted as requested by units and DC, PP&O, Ground Combat Element Branch (POG).
2. These inspections will be completed by the Naval Safety Center Parachute Safety analysts.

3. Details regarding inspection schedule, checklists, in-brief and results of past inspections will be forwarded to each activity via email approximately 90 days prior to the planned inspection visit or upon request by the units being inspected.
4. Conflicts with the unit’s mission schedule will be addressed on a case-by-case basis between the unit’s Paraloft Chief and the Naval Safety Center Parachute Safety Analyst.
5. Requests for cancellation of paraloft and HRST locker inspections must be initiated by regimental commanding officers and endorsed by the first general officer in the unit’s chain ofcommand. Previously cancelled inspections may require the unit tofund travel expenses for follow-on inspections. Cancellation requests will be communicated via email to the Naval Safety Center Parachute Safety Analyst, MSgt Gabriel Machado (gabriel.machado@navy.mil) and HQMC Safety Division Tactical Safety Specialist, Mr. Robert Young (robert.l.young@usmc.mil).
6. The scheduled inspections are at no cost to the units. Assist visits are provided upon request via message or email at no cost to commands and are highly recommended.
