GENTEXT/REMARKS/1.  Background.  Marine Corps Embassy Security Group (MCESG) is responsible for screening, selecting, and training Marines for Marine Security Guard (MSG) duty at U.S. embassies and consulates worldwide.  Their mission is to provide security at these diplomatic facilities in order to protect U.S. diplomats and classified material.  In addition to this fundamental mission, MCESG oversees the manning and deployment of the MSG Security Augmentation Unit (MSAU) whose mission is to augment security at embassies and consulates during periods of increased threat.
2.  Married Marines (E-5 only) with dependents are now authorized to volunteer for MSG duty for assignment specifically to MSAU.  This will be a 36 month tour aboard Quantico, VA.  All current requirements for assignment to MSG duty will still be applicable aside from having dependents.  Those married Marines wishing to volunteer for assignment to MSAU should email the MCESG Recruiting, Advertising, and Screening Team (RAST) at MSGInfo@usmc.mil to schedule a telephonic screening and submit a package via TFRS through their career planner.  Due to the small size of MSAU, the number of married Marines accepted for this duty will be limited.  While MSAU is based in Quantico, Marines assigned to MSAU can expect numerous, short duration TAD deployments to augment security at embassies and consulates and to provide security support during senior level U.S. official visits overseas.
