GENTEXT/REMARKS/1.  Since the inception of “National Volunteer Week” in 1974, volunteerism and the intrinsic desire to give back has seen continuous growth culminating in a celebration of all volunteers throughout the month of April.  National Volunteer Appreciation week allows the Marine Corps to recognize our Marines, family members, and civilians for their service as volunteers.
2.  Volunteers are essential in our community and demonstrate daily the rich legacy of service that represents the Marine Corps.  In celebration of National Volunteer Appreciation Week, 18-24 April 2021, we recognize our Marines, family members and civilian volunteers for their dedication and altruistic service.
3.  Commanders and leaders are encouraged to acknowledge exceptional volunteers by supporting local events and activities designated for volunteer appreciation.  Recognizing the selfless work of volunteers through the unprecedented challenges of the past year inspires others to serve, and fosters a sense of pride in service.  The contributions made by these volunteers to the Marine Corps and local communities has been invaluable.
4.  Donna and I are proud and would like to say thank you to each and every volunteer.  The work you do embodies the very best of us and your commitment creates a stronger more vibrant Marine Corps community.  Thank you for all that you do.
5.  Semper Fidelis.  David H. Berger, General, U.S. Marine Corps, Commandant of the Marine Corps.//
