GENTEXT/REMARKS/1. This MARADMIN clarifies the requirement for security clearance eligibility to attend the CBRN Defense Chief career-progression course.
2. Basic Requirements.
2.a. IAW REF (A), the PMOS 5711, CBRN Defense Specialist, requires personnel to maintain eligibility for a secret security clearance.
2.b. Upon selection to Staff Sergeant, CBRN Defense Specialists attend the MOS producing CBRN Defense Chief Course, CID: A16KJK4, and receive the PMOS 5769, CBRN Defense Chief. Assignment of PMOS 5769 qualifies Marines for assignment to CBRN Defense Chief Billets and ensures personnel remain in alignment with future promotion opportunities within Occupational Field 57.
3. CBRN Defense Chief Course Security Clearance Requirements.
3.a. In accordance with REF (B), PMOS 5711 personnel currently assigned to billets not requiring access to classified material must coordinate with the unit security manager to ensure their Tier 3 (T3) investigation is current and will not go out of scope during the CBRN Defense Chief Course.
3.b. Gunnery Sergeants who received PMOS 5769, prior to the CBRN Defense Chief Course being required, may also attend the course.
3.d. In accordance with REF (A), (B) and (C), personnel who fail to meet course pre-requisites will not be enrolled in the course.
4. Sending unit(s).
4.a. Ensure SECRET eligibility is current and SECRET access is granted.
5. Receiving unit.
5.a. Verify eligibility and access in the Defense Information Security System (DISS).
6. Release authorized by SES Randy R. Smith, Assistant Deputy Commandant for Plans, Policies and Operations (Security).//
