ALMAR 027/21
MSGID/GENADMIN/CMC WASHINGTON DC DMCS//
SUBJ/VETERANS DAY 2021 ALMAR//
GENTEXT/REMARKS/1. On behalf of all Marines, I express sincerest appreciation for the millions of men and women who have served our great Nation in its armed forces. On 10 October 1978, President Jimmy Carter called upon Congress to "acknowledge our debt to those who sacrificed so much when their country asked service of them, and to repay that debt fully, gladly, and with a deep sense of respect." That respect and admiration is as true now as it was then.
2. We honor the generations of Americans who have put country over self as members of the Marine Corps, the Navy, the Army, the Air Force, the Coast Guard, and the Space Force. While some gave all, all gave some over the course of their service. We honor their sacrifice in all its forms, and extend our heartfelt gratitude for their courage and selflessness as members of the United States Armed Forces.
3. On 11 November, we proudly take time to remember those who served and reflect on the meaning of that service. To all those who have worn the uniform, it is my distinct and solemn honor to thank you for your service and sacrifice.
4. Semper Fidelis, David H. Berger, General, U. S. Marine Corps, Commandant of the Marine Corps.//
