GENTEXT/REMARKS/1. Background. The Deputy Commandant for Information (DC I) was established to provide the Marine Corps an all-Service approach to Operations in the Information Environment (OIE). Similar to the identification of GCE officer with the 8008 MOS, this new MOS serves to identify the cadre of OIE professionals and support accurately communicating the requirement for key billets to be filled by Marines with training or background with OIE. The following changes are approved in coordination with Training and Education Command (TECOM).
2. The 8017 EMOS will be added to Occupations Field 80, Miscellaneous Requirements MOS and reflect the additions outlined in paragraphs 2.a-2.g.
2.a. MOS Title. MOS 8017, Billet Designator – OIE Officer (I) (LtCol to Capt) EMOS, DC I
2.b. Summary. This MOS will be used in T/Os to designate a billet to which an Unrestricted Officer with an Information-related PMOS may be assigned but will not be assigned to an individual.
2.c. Prerequisites. Must possess as a Primary MOS either MOS 0202 Intelligence Officer; 0602 Communications Officer; 1702 Cyberspace Warfare Officer; or 4502 Communications Strategy and Operations Officer. Officers with EMOS 0510 Basic Information Operations (IO) Staff Officer, 0520 Psychological Operations Officer, 0530 Civil Affairs Officer, 0540 Space Operations Staff Officer, 0550 Advanced Information Operations (IO) Planner, or 0588 Electromagnetic Spectrum Operations (EMSO) Planner are also eligible.
2.d. Requirements. None.
2.e. Duties. None.
2.f. Related Standard Occupational Classification (SOC) Title and Code. Command and Control Center Officers 55-1015.
2.g. Related Military Skill. None.
3. This MARADMIN is applicable to the Marine Corps Total Force.
