GENTEXT/REMARKS/1. This message announces the convening of the Field Music Leaders Symposium to be held 25-27 January 2022.
2. The Field Music Leaders Symposium is hosted by the Field Music OccFld Managers, Communication Directorate, Headquarters Marine Corps.
3. Purpose. The Field Music Leaders Symposium is the forum for discussing, planning, and informing decisions on 55XX Field Music matters between Headquarters Marine Corps, the operating forces, and the supporting establishment. The Symposium strives to increase Field Band capabilities and readiness in support of the Marine Corps’ operational and institutional missions.
4. The Field Music Leaders Symposium will take place at the Joe Rosenthal Theater (Bldg. 29A) aboard Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall.
5. The Field Music Leaders Symposium will commence on Tuesday, 25 January 2022 and will conclude Thursday, 27 January 2022.
6. To effectively support 55XX OccFld related matters, the following commands are requested to send 55XX E8 and above leadership within their commands. Relevant music-related OccFld stakeholders are also invited (5505, 5506, 5507, 5511, 5512).

7. Each command should be prepared to brief on their local efforts including status of command concerns/challenges/shortfalls, inventory versus structure, command reporting chain, facilities update, etc.
8. RSVP no later than 15 Dec 2021 to the POCs listed above.
9. Visit Access Request (VAR) is not required for the Field Music Leaders Symposium. The Field Music Leaders Symposium will be conducted at the Unclassified level.
10. Uniform for the Field Music Leaders Symposium is the Woodland Marine Corps Combat Utility Uniform for all participants.
11. Travel days are 24 January (Monday) and 28 January (Friday) 2022 for Symposium participants. Travel expenses including lodging and rental car will be the unit’s responsibility.
12. Personnel are required to make their own billeting reservations at IHG Army Hotels Wainwright Hall, (703) 696-3576. The group reservation is under the name Marine Corps Music Leadership Symposium. The group reservation code is “MCM” and the deadline to reserve a room is 15 December 2021.
13. Attendees and commands must comply with MCO 4600.40B concerning the government travel charge card program. DTS will identify the 2022 max per diem rate for Arlington, VA.
14. Transportation and parking. Transportation is the responsibility of the attendee. Parking is available at no cost at the Symposium site.
15. RSVP’s and questions related to the Field Music Leaders Symposium should be sent to the CD Field Music POCs listed above. Coordinating instructions and finalized agenda will be provided to confirmed attendees no later than 10 January 2022.
