2.b.  Local units/agencies requested to send attendees and or to provide a brief on their programs/expertise are encouraged to make themselves available to support.
3.  Background.  The topics of suicide/mental health, retention, and transition were selected by the SMMC as areas of interest due to their significant impact on Marines’ lives, their families, and their service.  These topics are aligned with the Commandant's Planning Guidance and the Commandant of the Marine Corps has asked the senior enlisted leaders of the Corps to provide guidance and recommendations in these areas.
4.  Purpose.  The purpose of the summits is to gather feedback through shared experiences, collect data, and to develop a deep understanding of the issues affecting Marines in relation to these topics.  Additionally, the summits will determine how current Marine Corps training and education programs contribute, but may need to evolve to meet the current annual training requirements.
5.  End State.  Provide the Marine Corps with recommendations and solutions.  Through these efforts, the Marine Corps will provide individual Marines with resources to help themselves and their commands sustain a capable and ready force.
6.  In the event the summits are cancelled or postponed, guidance will be provided through separate correspondence.  Detailed programs that include virtual options and COVID-19 mitigation procedures are being developed and will be promulgated separately, if they become necessary.
7.  Tasks.  The units listed in paragraph 2.a. are requested to nominate active duty Marines to participate as summit members as follows:
7.a.  Tier one Marines, who are qualified/authorized to reenlist, but not reenlisting.
7.b.  Tier two/three Marines (E-3-E-7).
7.c.  The quantity of Tier one, two, and three Marines will be determined by each summit's senior enlisted leader and team leaders.  If a summit will have more than 50 personnel present, a request for approval from the Secretary of the Navy needs to be submitted to the office of the Director of Marine Corps Staff in DON Tracker no later than 28 January 2022.
7.d.  In a continuously evolving COVID environment, requirements and procedures to conduct in-person events can change.  Any changes of this nature that go into effect before the summits convene will be followed by each summit location.
8.  Administration and Logistics.  The summits will be conducted from 14-18 March 2022 at the following Marine Corps installations:  Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune Marine Corps Base Camp Courtney Marine Corps Support Facility New Orleans
