GENTEXT/REMARKS/1. Situation. This MARADMIN announces the convening of the 2021 AFCEA Military IT Leadership Awards selection board and solicits Marine Corps nominations. The awards recognize service members who have made significant contributions to their fellow warfighters through the use of IT. A total of 14 awards are presented, including 1 enlisted and 1 officer from each of the armed services, plus another 4 service members (2 enlisted and 2 officers) who were in joint billets, from 1 January 2021 to 31 December 2021. Special selection consideration will be given to nominees who displayed decisive bravery in their actions. Nominations must be submitted online by 28 February 2022. Awards will be presented on 11 May 2022.
2. Mission. Commands are requested to submit nomination packages or the best qualified Marines directly to AFCEA. Command endorsements above the company, or battery, level are not required.
3. Execution.
3.A. Award Categories and Prerequisites. Nomination packages consist of three sections: background information, leadership contribution, and decisive bravery (if applicable).
3.A.1. Background Information. The nominee and nominator’s contact information.
3.A.2. Leadership Contribution. Describe the nominee's leadership contribution and impact on the warfighter. Address the specific criteria identified below, and provide any other information deemed to be vital to the nominee’s selection.
3.A.2.A. Criteria.
3.A.2.A.1. Leadership contribution in using, employing, deploying, or advancing IT in support of their fellow warfighters. (300 words maximum)
3.A.2.A.2. Willingness and ability to treat obstacles as challenges ,and not barriers. (100 words maximum)
3.A.2.A.3. Measurable improvement in performance linked to mission objectives through technology implementation (100 words maximum).
3.A.3. Decisive Bravery (if applicable). If you believe the nominee exhibited decisive bravery, and you would like the committee to consider your comments, describe how the nominee exhibited decisive bravery in the conduct of his or her duties serving the warfighter (restricted to 250 words).
4. Administration and Logistics.
4.A. All nominations will be submitted on-line at: https:(slash)(slash)dcevents.afceachapters.org/militnominations2022. Nomination packages must be received by AFCEA no later than 1700 EST 28 February 2022 in order to be considered for selection.
4.A.1. Complete copy of the package will be forwarded to POCs identified in this MARADMIN. POCs on this MARADMIN will not submit awards to AFCEA for consideration.
4.B. Award winners will be notified by AFCEA during the week of 3 April 2022.
4.C. Presentation of Awards.
4.C.1. Award recipients will receive recognition from AFCEA Washington, DC and their peers in the Military-Government Information Technology Community for their Contribution to the Warfighter through the use of Information Technology. The recipients will be recognized at the 15th Annual AFCEA Washington, DC Leadership Awards Dinner on Wednesday, May 11, at the Army Navy Country Club in Washington DC. Detailed information about this event will be provided separately to award winners and their nominators, and will be available on the AFCEA Washington, DC website at dc.afceachapters.org.
4.C.2. Funding to attend award presentations is a unit responsibility.
