GENTEXT/REMARKS/1. Purpose. Announce the Computer Adaptive Test (CAT) as the official test form for Foreign Language Proficiency Bonus (FLPB) certification for Chinese Mandarin (CM). The CAT, which is currently in a pilot phase, is replacing earlier versions of the Defense Language Proficiency Test (DLPT)-5.
2. Background. The CAT implementation requires Marines to recertify language proficiency, but Marines can recertify using previous scores during this pilot phase, if eligibility is not met.
3. Execution. Marines that do not score at the same or higher level on the CAT, can recertify for an additional one-year period using scores from their DLPT-5. Marines must possess PMOS 2641, 2629, and/or 2642, and EMOS 2737 to be eligible for the CAT recertification waiver.
