SUBJ/U.S. ARMY BIRTHDAY 2022//
GENTEXT/REMARKS/1. On behalf of the Marine Corps, I offer heartfelt congratulations to the United States Army on its 247th birthday.
2. Soldiers and Marines have fought and sacrificed alongside each other from the earliest days of our nation to modern times - from Trenton and Princeton to Iraq and Afghanistan. The Marine Corps and Army remain committed partners in maintaining peace while modernizing and preparing for anticipated threats and war. In the vein of Secretary of War Elihu Root, who founded the Army War College "not to promote war, but to preserve peace by intelligent and adequate preparation to repel aggression," we conduct joint training and education, with the goal of deterring foes and protecting this nation, our homes, and the people we love. We are honored to call you brothers and sisters in arms as we strive together for a common purpose.
3. Semper Fidelis, David H. Berger, General, United States Marine Corps, Commandant of the Marine Corps.//
