GENTEXT/REMARKS/1. This calling message announces the convening of the 2022 Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps Enlisted Education Zero Based Review Summit.
2. The summit will be sponsored by the Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps (SMMC) 26-28 July 2022 aboard Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. Travel days are 25 July and 29 July for CONUS travelers, 24-25 July and 29-30 July for OCONUS travelers.

2.b. Local units/agencies are requested to send attendees and/or to provide a brief on their programs/expertise and encouraged to make themselves available to support.
3. Background. A top priority for the Commandant of the Marine Corpsis training and education. In order to compete and retain strategic advantage against a peer adversary we must develop better enlisted leaders and warfighters. This require Marines who are not only adaptive, critical thinkers, and masters of their profession, but also those who possess a thorough understanding of the Marine Corps’ time-proven customs, traditions, ethos, and standards.
4. Purpose. Conduct a zero-based review of all EPME curricula (LCpl-GySgt) to ensure the limited time dedicated to enlisted development meets the needs, expectations and requirements of the service and Combatant Commanders.
5. End State. Provide the Marine Corps with recommendations and solutions for the future of Enlisted Education.
6. In the event the summit is cancelled or postponed, guidance will be provided through separate correspondence.
7. Tasks. Personnel listed in paragraph 2.a. are requested to participate as summit members. II MEF and MCI-East leadership will provide representation from LCpl Leadership & Seminar and Cpl Course Instructors.
8. Administration and Logistics. The summit will be conducted from 26-28 July at the Staff Noncommissioned Officer Academy Camp Lejeune, North Carolina
8.a. Uniform. The required uniform is MarPat utilities.
8.b. Orders. Parent commands will issue and fund orders for individual participants. All orders should be non-reporting. Government quarters and messing are not available. Rental vehicles may be authorized at parent command discretion. All rental vehicles will be funded by the parent command.
8.c. Team leads and deputies will collect the names of individual participants and provide a detailed schedule and further coordinating instructions via separate correspondence.
