GENTEXT/REMARKS/1.  Purpose.  To announce the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) Program and the Limited PSLF waiver for borrowers to receive credit for past periods of repayment that may not have previously qualified for PSLF.  The PSLF Program forgives the remaining balance on Direct Loans after 120 qualifying monthly payments have been made under an income-driven repayment plan while working full-time for a qualifying employer.
2.  PSLF Qualifications.  Candidates for the PSLF must be employed full-time by a U.S. federal, state, local or tribal government or not-for-profit organization.  Federal service includes U.S. military service, as well as service with Marine Corps Community Services.  Any loan received under the William D. Ford Federal Direct Loan Program qualifies for PSLF.  Student loans from private lenders do not qualify for PSLF.  All pertinent information and necessary counseling about PSLF can be obtained through the installation voluntary education (VolEd) center and the installation Personal Financial Management Specialist.  Additional information can be found at the following link:  https:(SLASH)(SLASH)studentaid.gov/manage-loans/forgiveness-cancellation/public-service.
3.  The Limited PSLF Waiver.  The Limited PSLF Waiver refers to the time-limited changes to PSLF Program rules that allow borrowers to receive credit for past periods of repayment that would otherwise not qualify for PSLF.  This opportunity ends October 31, 2022.  Further information about the PSLF Waiver can be obtained through the installation VolEd Center and the installation Personal Financial Management Specialist.  Further information also may be found at the following link:  https:(SLASH)(SLASH)studentaid.gov/announcements-events/pslf-limited-waiver.
