GENTEXT/REMARKS/1. In accordance with reference (a), this Marine Administrative Message (MARADMIN) announces the conduct of the fiscal year 2022 (FY22) Commandant of the Marine Corps (CMC) Combined Awards Program and the execution of the in-person awards ceremony event.
2. In accordance with reference (b), the CMC will recognize recipients in the following four awards categories:
Drill Instructor (DI) of the Year
Marine Combat Instructor (MCI) of the Year
Recruiter of the Year
Marine Security Guard (MSG) of the Year
2.a. Winners and the first runner-up of these awards will be announced via results MARADMIN upon the completion and endorsement of all pertaining boards.
3. The in-person FY22 CMC Combined Awards Ceremony will be held in the National Capital Region. Date, time, location, and details regarding travel will be published via separate correspondence.
4. Action:
4.a. Commanding General (CG), Training and Education Command (TECOM)
4.a.1. Promulgate a letter of instruction to major subordinate commands to provide additional direction, information, and coordinating instructions relative to the ceremony.
4.a.2. Coordinate with CG, Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego (MCRD SD) / Western Recruiting Region (WRR) and CG, Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island (MCRD PI) / Eastern Recruiting Region (ERR) to receive DI nomination packages in accordance with criteria set forth in reference (b).
4.a.3. Convene a selection board to determine DI of the Year.
4.a.4. Process and forward drafted awards for the winners and first Runner-up in each category via the Improved Awards Processing System (iAPS) to CMC (MMMA) for processing.
4.a.5. Prepare meritorious promotion warrants for the winners for the CMC's signature as required.
4.a.6. Coordinate combined awards ceremony with CMC Protocol office.
4.b. CG, Marine Corps Recruiting Command (MCRC)
4.b.1. Coordinate with CG, ERR and CG, WRR to receive recruiter nomination packages in accordance with (IAW) criteria set forth in reference (b).
4.b.2. Convene a selection board to determine the overall recruiter of the year among regular recruiters and prior service recruiters and the first runner-up.
4.b.3. Prepare and forward a Navy and Marine Corps Commendation medal for the winner and the runner-up of Recruiter of the year via iAPS to TECOM (M30010) for processing IAW reference (b).
4.c. CG, Training Command (TRNGCMD)
4.c.1. Coordinate with Commanding Officer (CO), School of Infantry (SOI) East and CO, SOI West to receive nomination packages for the MCI of the year IAW the criteria set forth in reference (b).
4.c.2. Convene selection board to determine MCI of the year and the Runner-up.
4.c.3. Prepare and forward a Navy and Marine Corps Commendation medal for the winner and the runner-up of MCI of the year via iAPS to TECOM (M30010) for processing IAW reference (b).
4.d. GC, MCRD SD and CG, MCRD PI
4.d.1. Each depot will select one DI of the year nominee IAW the criteria set forth in reference (b).
4.d.2. Submit nomination packages per reference (b) to CG, TECOM via the Department of the Navy (DON) Electronic Tasking Management System 2 (ETMS2) address “USMC TECOM” NLT 5 November 2022.
4.d.3. Prepare and forward a Navy and Marine Corps Commendation medal for the DI of the year nominee via iAPS to TECOM (M30010) for processing IAW reference (b).
4.e. CO, Marine Corps Embassy Security Group (MCESG)
4.e.1. Coordinate with company commanding officers to receive nomination packages IAW criteria set forth in reference (b).
4.e.2. Convene selection board to determine MSG of the year and the Runner-up.
4.e.4. Prepare and forward a Navy and Marine Corps Commendation medal for MSG of the year and the runner-up via iAPS to TECOM (M30010) for processing IAW reference (b).
5. Coordinating instructions
5.a. MCRC, TRNGCMD, and MCESG, forward results and nomination packages per reference (b) to CG, TECOM via the Department of the Navy DON ETMS2 address “USMC TECOM” for required endorsement and processing for the combined awards ceremony no later than (NLT) 18 November 2022.
5.b. Funding and billeting instructions for the winners, the runners-up, and their spouses to attend the awards ceremony will be published in the MARADMIN announcing the winners.
5.c. Uniform and civilian attire for the combined awards ceremony will be published with the MARADMIN announcing the winners.
