GENTEXT/REMARKS/1.  This message announces the convening of the Marine Corps Music Leaders Symposium to be held 31 January – 3 February 2023.
2.  The Music Leaders Symposium is hosted by the Fleet Music OccFld Managers, Communication Directorate, Headquarters Marine Corps.
3.  Purpose.  The Music Leaders Symposium is the forum for discussing, planning, and informing decisions on 55XX Fleet Music matters between Headquarters Marine Corps, the operating forces, and the supporting establishment.  The Symposium strives to increase Fleet Band capabilities and readiness in support of the Marine Corps’ operational and institutional missions. 
4.  The Music Leaders Symposium will take place at the Pentagon Library and Conference Center.
5.  The Music Leaders Symposium will commence on Tuesday, 31 January 2023 and will conclude Friday, 3 February 2023.
6.  To effectively support 55XX OccFld related matters, the following commands are requested to send 55XX E8 (or those acting in an E8 billet) and above leaders within their commands.  Other relevant music-related OccFld stakeholders are welcome to attend (5505, 5506, 5507, 5511, 5512).

6.B.  U.S. Marine Corps Forces Reserve.
6.C.  I Marine Expeditionary Force.
6.C.1.  1st Marine Division.
6.C.2.  3rd Marine Aircraft Wing.

7.  Each command should be prepared to brief on their local efforts including status of command challenges/shortfalls, staffing and structure, command reporting chain, facilities update, etc.
8.  RSVP no later than 16 Dec 2022 to the POCs listed above.
9.  Visit Access Request (VAR) is not required for the Music Leaders Symposium.  The Music Leaders Symposium will be conducted at the Unclassified level.
10.  Uniform for the Music Leaders Symposium is the seasonal service uniform for all participants.
11.  Travel days are 30 January (Monday) and the after 1500 on 3 February (Friday) or anytime 4 February (Saturday) 2023 for Symposium participants.  Travel expenses including lodging and rental car will be the unit’s responsibility.
12.  Personnel are required to make their own billeting reservations. There are several hotels in the immediate area that are available at the government lodging rate.
13.  Attendees and commands must comply with MCO 4600.40B concerning the government travel charge card program.  DTS will identify the 2023 max per diem rate for Arlington, VA.
14.  Transportation and parking.  Transportation is the responsibility of the attendee.  Parking is available at no cost at the Symposium site.
15.  RSVP’s and questions related to the Marine Corps Music Leaders Symposium should be sent to the HQMC CD Fleet Music POCs listed above. Coordinating instructions and finalized agenda will be provided to confirmed attendees no later than 10 January 2023.
