GENTEXT/REMARKS/1.  Purpose.  This MARADMIN announces the Defense Suicide Prevention Office nominations request for the 2022 “Connect to Protect:  Support is Within Reach” Annual Suicide Prevention Efforts Installation and Operational Forces Recognition Award.
2.  Background.  Manpower and Reserve Affairs (M&RA), Marine and Family Programs Division (MF), Behavioral Programs Branch (MFC) is the responsible office for Suicide Prevention in accordance with reference (a).  The award honors installations and operational forces with the most dedicated and influential suicide prevention program.  In accordance with reference (c), recipients are recognized for efforts to support Service Members, their families, and Department of Defense civilians by creating suicide prevention awareness and building community support to prevent suicide.
3.  Intent.  Installations and operational forces are required to assign a point of contact (POC) to gather information about suicide prevention efforts within the command or at the installation from September 1, 2021 through September 30, 2022.  The POC must be available to perform this duty until spring 2023 or be able to effectively turn over the duty if a replacement is necessary.  Installations may work with any of the tenant commands to gather information for the nomination.  Tenant commands or operational forces who submit a nomination may gather information from elements within the organization to submit the nomination.
4.  Method.  Each unit, command, or installation submitting a nomination shall submit a completed reference (c) with supporting documents as follows:
    a.  Provide a narrative up to 1,000 words, using 12-point Times New Roman font, describing the relevant events and/or activities from the September 1, 2021 through September 30, 2022 time period.  Include pictures, flyers, and other supporting material.
    b.  Include specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and timely (SMART) measures of each activity or event (i.e., qualitative or quantitative data demonstrating how the event(s) and activity/activities impacted the community.  Examples include the number of participants, populations participating, comments received from participants, etc.).
    c.  Nominations must be received no later than February 3.  Email nominations to Headquarters Marine Corps, Suicide Prevention Capability at andrea.arellanoeuribe@usmc.mil.  The email subject line should read “DoD 2021-22 Suicide Prevention Recognition Nomination_installation name.”
5.  End State.  Recipients will be announced in February 2023 and recognized with a special awards ceremony to follow spring 2023 in the National Capital Region.
6.  This MARADMIN is cancelled February 3, 2023.
7.  This MARADMIN applies to Active Duty and Reserve Component Marines.
