GENTEXT/REMARKS/1.  The Commandant of the Marine Corps (CMC) approved Marine Corps Doctrinal Publication (MCDP) 4, Logistics, dated 21 March 2023.  MCDP 4 is available via the USMC doctrine website https:(slant)(slant)usmc.sharepoint-mil.us/sites/MCEN_Support_MCDoctrine/Publications/MCDP%204.pdf as well as the Marine Corps Publications Electronic Library at https:(slant)(slant)www.marines.mil/News/Publications/MCPEL/Electronic-Library-Display/Article/899840/mcdp-4/.
2.  MCDP 4 focuses on logistics and describes the Marine Corps’ theory and philosophy of military logistics while providing a conceptual framework for understanding logistics as an essential aspect of every military operation.  It describes the role of logistics in a globally contested environment, within multiple domains, across the competition continuum.
2.a.  This publication is intended for all Marines.  All Marines benefit by understanding the nature, theories, and design of the logistics enterprise.  The more Marines understand how their needs are met by a complex network of systems and relationships, the better they will be at creating realistic plans, generating requirements, and using the network to build, position, and sustain the force.  This understanding helps develop support plans that shape and extend the Marine Corps’ endurance, reach, and survivability.
2.b.  MCDP 4 is not intended to be a reference manual, rather, it is designed to be read from cover to cover and be immediately applicable.  Instead of specific techniques or procedures to adopt, it provides broad guidance in the form of ideas, with historical lessons and realistic fictional illustrations to stimulate thinking and encourage additional learning.
3.  Coordinating Instructions.  Units requiring print allocations in addition to the initial issue must follow procedures identified in reference (a), paragraphs 4.a.2.a.2.b and 4.a.2.a.2.c.  The publication control number (PCN), limited dissemination control (LDC), and manager is:
3.a.  MCDP 4, Logistics.
3.a.1.  PCN:  142 000003 01.
3.a.2.  LDC:  None.
3.a.3.  Manager:  Policy and Standards Division.
4.  This MARADMIN is applicable to the Marine Corps Total Force.
5.  Release authorized by Lieutenant General Kevin M. Iiams, Commanding General, Training and Education Command.//
