GENTEXT/REMARKS/1.  On 3 April 2023, the Branch Head of MMEA convened the 0699 priority billet slating board.  MMEA, in coordination with the communications occupational field specialist and senior enlisted advisor to the Director of Information, Command, Control, Communications and Computers, assessed the need to align the most qualified Marines with the highest priority billets.  The board reviewed each Marine's skillsets with each billet's requirements.  The resulting slate assigned the most qualified senior enlisted 0699 Marines with the service’s highest priority billets.
2.  The 0699 slate board consisted of a Colonel, two 0699 Master Gunnery Sergeants, and four Master Gunnery Sergeant monitors from Communication Electronics, Ground, Logistics, and Aviation backgrounds.  The board of voting members used the Digital Board Room to rank Marines by performance, prioritize billets, and review questionnaires to vote on the slate.  Each billet was prioritized and briefed for required skill sets.  The board also reviewed questionnaires provided by 18 separate 0699 Master Gunnery Sergeants.  Professional, personal, and command factor considerations were included and deliberated during the voting process.  The board voted according to rank and billet to align the most qualified Marine for each slate.
3.  The board selected 10 0699 Master Gunnery Sergeants for 10 priority billets.
4.  The talent, qualifications, and skillsets of the Marines considered reaffirms that the communications community continues to produce and promote leaders of the highest quality.  A competitive assignment process, which directly enhances the command and control effectiveness of the unit, is a critical requirement to ensure MMEA assigns the right Marine, to the right billet, at the right time, for the right reasons.
