Over the last 18 months, MMEA, in coordination with the infantry occupational field specialist and senior FMF and Supporting Establishment infantry leaders, assessed that to place the most competitive 0399 in the right billet, a more professional and transparent slating process was required. 2. The board screened eight 0399 Master Gunnery Sergeants and selected seven for the seven available fiscal year 2024 billets. 3. The quality of the Marines considered reaffirms that the infantry community continues to produce and promote leaders of the highest quality. A competitive assignment process directly enhances the warfighting effectiveness of the unit and is a critical requirement to ensure MMEA assigns the right Marine to the right billet at the right time.
