SUBJ/LABOR DAY MESSAGE 2023//
GENTEXT/REMARKS/1.  Established in 1894, Labor Day honors the achievements and ingenuity of the American workers who have contributed significantly to our Nation’s prosperity.  In the wake of the Industrial Revolution, this holiday represented an official acknowledgement that it was the hard work of everyday laborers that made our country great.      
2.  As we celebrate Labor Day this year, let us recognize all the men and women who continue working hard, innovating, and in some cases even putting their own health at risk to keep our Nation thriving.  We appreciate each of the American workers who continue to embody the spirit, ingenuity, and adaptability that make our Nation great.
3.  Traditionally, Labor Day marks the end of summer and provides one last opportunity for social gatherings and recreational activities typical of the season.  Remember as you are celebrating that you are our greatest asset.  Exercise good judgment and sound decision making in representing our Corps and in planning and executing off-duty activities.  We expect all our Marines to take precautions to stay healthy and ready to answer when our Nation calls.
