GENTEXT/REMARKS/1.  Situation.  Joint-service professional development opportunities for enlisted Marines are limited.  However, Marine Corps University, with assistance from the Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps, has established a long-term relationship with the United States Navy Senior Enlisted Academy (NAVSEA) resulting in a controlled number of seats for the Marine Corps.  This academy is located at Naval Station (NS) Newport, Rhode Island.  The NAVSEA conducts an intense six-week blended course with a curriculum focused in the following core areas:  Leadership, Communication, Organizational Behavior, National and International Strategic Studies.
2.  Mission.  The following nine iterations of NAVSEA have a three-week Distance Learning (DL) phase followed by a three-week resident phase. The DL phase must be completed in order to proceed to the resident phase.
