GENTEXT/REMARKS/1.  On behalf of all Marines, I express my profound appreciation to those brave Americans who have heeded the call to serve our great Nation.  Originating with "Armistice Day" at the end of the First World War, 11 November was redesignated as "Veteran’s Day" in 1954 to acknowledge the service of all veterans.  Since our Nation's founding, in war and peace, draftee or volunteer, veterans have embodied that which is best within the American spirit.
2.  Today we honor those Marines, Sailors, Soldiers, Airmen, Guardians, and Coast Guardsmen who have served the Nation.  Let us extend our heartfelt gratitude to them for their selflessness and recognize the sacrifices they have made as members of the United States Armed Forces.
3.  On 11 November 2023, I call upon all Marines to proudly remember all those who have worn the uniform of an American Service Member.  It is my distinct and solemn honor to thank you for your service.
