GENTEXT/REMARKS/1.  The Inspector General of the Marine Corps (IGMC) plays a crucial role as “the eyes and ears of the Commandant.”  This role is firmly rooted in the IGMC mission to enhance Marine Corps efficiency, integrity, and institutional readiness.  The IGMC Inspections Division assesses policy compliance, evaluates the effectiveness of the Commanding General’s Inspection Program, gauges command conditions, offers instruction and training, and suggests corrective actions to the units being inspected through impartial assessments and inspections.  On behalf of the Commandant of the Marine Corps, the IGMC conducts command inspections of Marine Corps units across the Total Force.
2.  In accordance with reference (a), IGMC reserves the right to conduct short-notice inspections at any time to accurately assess commands.  To reduce the impact on inspected commands and better align with other “foundational” readiness inspections, such as Marine Corps Administrative Analysis Team (MCAAT) and Field Supply and Maintenance Analysis Office (FSMAO), IGMC will now publish a baseline command inspection schedule to assess foundational readiness.  This change will be formalized in a forthcoming revision of reference (a).  Additionally, IGMC will continue to develop an “operational” readiness inspections program, to include functional areas, such as unit training management and unit readiness.  Information and coordination for operational readiness inspections will be published via separate correspondence.  Foundational and operational readiness combined equates to overall institutional readiness.
3.  The IGMC will conduct the following inspections in FY24 (read in three columns):

4.  The above IGMC inspections have been precoordinated with the respective command inspectors general (CIGs) and will not normally be rescheduled or cancelled.  Only when unexpected circumstances occur, should units attempt to reschedule or cancel inspections and submit requests to IGMC via the chain of command using a Naval message.  The final decision authority for rescheduling requests rests with IGMC.  Changes requested within 60 days will not normally be approved.
5.  Separate from IGMC command inspections, CIGs conduct Commanding General’s Inspections on behalf of their respective commanding generals or regional Installation commanders.  CIGs may publish subordinate unit inspection schedules or conduct short-notice inspections in accordance with the intent of this MARADMIN and the guidance of their respective commanders.
6.  Release authorized by Major General J. Q. Bohm, Inspector General of the Marine Corps.//
