GENTEXT/REMARKS/1.  The 2024 Officer Women Leadership Symposium (OWLS) will be held 11-12 April 2024 in a hybrid format.  The physical location of the symposium will be at George Mason University in Arlington, Virginia.
2.  The Officer Women Leadership Symposium provides military personnel the opportunity to network with like-minded colleagues and to grow professionally and personally through keynote messages, workshops, and panel discussions.  The speakers are leaders from the military, public, and private sectors who offer their support and personal advice.  Participants will have tremendous opportunities for mentorship, while connecting with veterans and current military personnel at every level of leadership and from all Military Services.  OWLS is a non-federal entity wholly independent of the Marine Corps.  More information can be found on the Academy Women website at www.MilitaryOWLS.org.
3.  During the symposium, attendees will benefit from candid and insightful discussions, both with senior departmental/service leaders and amongst themselves.  Additionally, this event offers mutually beneficial educational opportunities that provide participants and the Service with a greater understanding of how to work with and capitalize on the differences and strengths within our Corps.
4.  Headquarters United States Marine Corps, Manpower Plans and Policy Division (MP) will sponsor 100 conference registration fees for virtual/in-person participation and travel expenses for those in a temporary additional duty status and local travelers for this event.  MP will fund travel for four days with the authorized travel days being 10 April and 13 April 2024.  Lodging reimbursement is limited to the government rate and the traveler must utilize the integrated lodging program as applicable.  Commands may authorize rental cars using unit funds.
5.  Attendees require authorization from their immediate supervisor to be considered for MP participation approval.
6.  Reserve Marines within the selected reserve will require approval from the first O5 commander in their chain of command.
7.  Outreach events are open to all Marines, Sailors, and Civilian Marines regardless of rank, race, ethnicity, gender, or status.  Requests to attend this event should be emailed to the Branch mailbox MPE_Outreach@usmc.mil via the individual’s Officer-in-Charge and must include the following information: name, rank, unit, EDIPI, email, duty station, and Defense Travel System (DTS) organization.  Requests must be submitted no later than (NLT) 11 March 2024.  Requests received after the NLT date will not be facilitated.  Attendees must have a government travel charge card in their possession and a DTS profile joined to their respective unit.
8.  Uniform of the day for this event is Service “C” for Marines, service equivalent for Sailors, and business casual for Civilian Marines.
9.  This MARADMIN is applicable to the Marine Corps Total Force.
10.  Release authorized by Lieutenant General James F. Glynn, Deputy Commandant for Manpower and Reserve Affairs.//
