GENTEXT/REMARKS/1. Per references (a) and (b), the 57XX Occupational Field (OccFld) Sponsor plays a crucial role in harnessing and developing new intellectual capital generated through Professional Military Education (PME) and overseeing the validation of Primary Military Occupational Specialties (PMOS).  Within the 57XX community, the CBRND Specialist (5711) serves as a foundational PMOS.  Upon attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant, individuals are eligible for transition to PMOS 5769.  Per reference (c), CBRND Specialists PMOS 5711 terminates at Staff Sergeant.  Completion of the CBRN Chief’s Course at Ft. Leonard Wood, MO is required within two years after selection to the grade of Staff Sergeant to attain the PMOS 5769.  The CBRN Chief’s course is required to be eligible for promotion to Gunnery Sergeant.
2. Background.  In 2018, 57XX OccFld, Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) Defense, established the 5769 CBRN Defense Chief PMOS.  This new PMOS aimed to define the specialized capabilities needed to support commanders and develop a strategic framework for Counter Weapons of Mass Destruction (CWMD) MOS.  Currently, there are Marines within the 57XX OccFld who have not fulfilled their requisite education requirements.  Administrative inaccuracies resulted in Marines being designated with the PMOS 5769 without completing required PME.  These inaccuracies have implications on promotion, retention considerations, and undermine the standards outlined in reference (c).
3. Execution.  To ensure PMOS administrative accuracy, units are directed to conduct a thorough review of each Marine's service record with the PMOS 5769 designation.  The review will validate required PME completion for Course Identification Code (A16KJK4)/Service School Code (KJK).  Those missing the required course will be reverted to their previous PMOS 5711 accordingly and must complete the required education to earn the PMOS5769. No “grandfather clause” will be implemented as the PME requirement was established in 2018 when the PMOS 5769 was activated and added to NAVMC 1200.1_ (Military Occupational Specialties Manual).
3.a. All Staff Sergeants with the PMOS 5769 entry who have not completed the required MOS PME will have their PMOS reverted to 5711 within (90) days of this message release date.
3.b. All Gunnery Sergeants through Master Gunnery Sergeants with the PMOS 5769 entry who have not completed the required MOS PME will complete the CBRND Chief’s Course (A16KJK4) within (24) months of this message release date.  Marines who fail to comply will have their PMOS reverted.  This will have implications on promotion and retention.
3.c. The parent command shall annotate each Marine’s SRB, via page-11 entry, to identify reversions to administratively inaccurate entries of the PMOS 5769.
3.d. The page-11 entry shall read: “I, _____, was counseled/notified my PMOS was reverted to 5711 due to not completing the required MOS PME.  *SSgt’s: I must complete the CBRND Chiefs Course (A16KJK4) to attain the 5769 PMOS and be eligible for promotion to Gunnery Sergeant.  **Gunnery Sergeant to Master Gunnery Sergeant: I must complete the CBRND Chiefs Course (A16KJK4) within (24) months to retain my PMOS and eligibility for further promotion and retention.
3.e. Units will complete this review within (90) days of this message release date.
3.f. Units will complete and report all PMOS reversions via unit dairy for entry into MCTFS within (90) days of this message release date.
3.g. Units will report all PMOS reversions to respective MARFOR’s and MEF’s via their unit CBRND sections.  Commands outside the above listed units (PFPA, HMX, MARSOC, WFTB, etc.) will submit their PMOS reversions directly to the POCs listed.
4. The above guidance is effective upon release.
5. This MARADMIN is not applicable to the Marine Corps Reserve.
6. Any questions should be directed to POCs.
7. Release authorized by MajGen Jason L. Morris, Director, Operations Division, Plans, Policies, and Operations.//
