GENTEXT/REMARKS/1. A Selection Board to recommend a judge advocate
(JA) of the Marine Corps for appointment as the Assistant Judge 
Advocate General of the Navy (AJAG) will be convened on 30 October
2024, at 2008 Elliot Road, Marine Corps Base, Quantico, VA, per the 
guidance contained in section 8089 of reference (a).
2.  The officers eligible for consideration by the board must 
satisfy the following criteria:
2.a.  Be on the Active-Duty List (ADL) of the Marine Corps and have
a permanent grade of colonel with a date of rank of 1 October 2022 
or earlier.
2.b.  Possess the 4402 (Judge Advocate) MOS.
2.c.  Be a member of a bar of a Federal court or the highest court 
of a state or territory.
2.d.  Have at least 8 years of experience in legal duties as a 
commissioned officer, as of the convening date of the board.
2.e.  Do not have an established separation/retirement date that is 
within 90 days after the convening date of the board.
2.f.  Not previously selected as an AJAG of the Navy.  
3.  Selection Board.  The board will consider officers in two
categories: (AZ) and (IZ).  The primary zone will include officers
above-zone (those previously considered) and in-zone.  The in-
zone will consist of judge advocates with a minimum of 24 months 
time-in-grade as of the convening date of the board.  Officers may
review reference (b) and their eligibility for the board on the 
internet at the performance branch homepage. The zone is as follows:

4.  Continuation Board.  Upon conclusion of the selection board, the
board will reconvene as a continuation board if the officer selected
as AJAG will be subject to involuntary retirement for total years of
active commissioned service before completing three years as AJAG.  
The officer will be continued on active duty for a period of three 
years from the date on which the officer is detailed, or 35 years 
of active commissioned service, or until the age of 62, whichever is
earlier.  CMC, Manpower Management Separations and Retirement (MMSR)
will adjust the officer's mandatory retirement date after the 
selection results have been announced. 
5.  Board Preparation Guidance.  Officers are advised to review 
reference (c), for guidance regarding submission of information,
auditing the Official Military Personnel File (OMPF) and Master 
Brief Sheet (MBS), fitness reports, and requests for non-selection
prior to the convening date of the board.
6.  Personal responsibilities.  Each officer is personally 
responsible for ensuring the accuracy and completeness of their
OMPF and MBS before the date the board convenes.  Refer to 
reference (c) for information on obtaining and reviewing your OMPF
and fitness report submission guidelines and timelines.
7.  Officer Correspondence.  All eligible officers may, if 
desired, submit correspondence to the President of the Board.  
Pursuant to Title 10, U.S.C. Section 614(b), officer 
correspondence must arrive NLT 10 days prior to the board convene 
date in order to be considered.  Correspondence arriving after this 
date will not be seen by the board.  The 10 calendar days before 
the date the board convenes is noted below:
