GENTEXT/REMARKS/1. Headquarters, United States Marine Corps (HQMC)
Semper Fit Branch (MFS) is seeking applications for the Elite
Warrior Athlete program.
2. Background. The Elite Warrior Athlete program, formerly known
as the Exceptional Athlete program, enables Marine athletes to
compete at higher-level sport and athletic tryouts and competitions
(i.e., National/World Championships, Olympic Trials, invitationals,
etc.). The intended participants for this program are highly
qualified athletes interested in participating in individual sports
outside of the scope of the All-Marine Sports program. The list is
not all inclusive, but a list of eligible sports can be found at:
https: (slash)(slash) armedforcessports.defense.gov/Sports/.
3. To be considered for participation, prospective athlete
applications for all sports include scores for the following All-
Marine Sports standard testing events: three repetition maximum
(RM) hex-bar or barbell deadlift, bench press, and squat; one RM
broad jump and Pro-Agility Test; and times for the three mile and
880-yard events from the most recent fitness tests.
4. The application form and detailed information on how to complete
the standard testing events can be found at https: (slash)(slash)
www.usmc-mccs.org/allmarinesports. Please email completed
applications to allmarinesports@usmc-mccs.org.
5. In addition to standard performance and skill testing events, it
is highly recommended that applicants provide proof of prior
competitive experience in their respective sport (high school,
collegiate, Olympic, etc.) along with any awards or recognition
received.
6. All applicants receive approval from their commanding officer to
participate. Commanding officers are strongly encouraged to endorse
Elite Warrior Athlete applications for those who demonstrate our
Core Values and are expected to enhance the reputation of the United
States Marine Corps. An Elite Warrior Athlete exemplifies pride in
our Armed Forces while providing the Marine Corps national/
international visibility. Approved participants will be assigned
Temporary Additional Duty status, though commanders may
contact MFS to recall participants if necessary.
7. HQMC MFS will fund the costs associated with these events based
on financial feasibility, competitive level (national, regional,
world), and ranking within the sport/nation/world.
8. This MARADMIN is applicable to active duty, active reserve, and
activated reserve Marines from Selected Marine Corps Reserve.
Reserve force Marines, excluding the Individual Ready Reserve, are
eligible to participate in the Elite Warrior Athlete program when
placed on active duty orders for operational support or a similar
status by their command.
9. Release authorized by Lieutenant General Michael J. Borgschulte,
Deputy Commandant for Manpower and Reserve Affairs.//
