GENTEXT/REMARKS/1. This message announces the convening of the
Marine Corps Music Leaders Symposium to be held 27-28 JANUARY 2025.
2. The Music Leaders Symposium is hosted by the Fleet Marine Music
OccFld Manager, Headquarters Marine Corps Communication Directorate
(HQMC CD).
3. Purpose. The Music Leaders Symposium is the forum for
discussing, planning, and informing decisions on 55XX Fleet Marine
Music matters between Headquarters Marine Corps, the operating
forces, and the supporting establishment. The Symposium strives to
increase Marine Fleet Bands’ capabilities and readiness in support
of the Marine Corps’ operational and institutional missions.
4. The Music Leaders Symposium will take place at Building 7W
Conference Room, Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, CA.
5. The Music Leaders Symposium will commence on Monday, 27 January
2025 and will conclude Tuesday, 28 January 2025.
6. To effectively support 55XX OccFld related matters, the
following commands are requested to send 55XX E8 (or those acting in
an E8 billet) and above leaders within their commands. Other
relevant music-related OccFld stakeholders are welcome to attend
(5505, 5506, 5507, 5511, 5512).

7. Band Leaders, be prepared to brief local band matters and
efforts including status of command challenges/shortfalls, staffing
and structure, command reporting chain, facilities update, etc.
8. RSVP no later than 15 Dec 2024 to the POC listed above.
9. Visit Access Request (VAR) is not required for the Music Leaders
Symposium. The Music Leaders Symposium will be conducted at the
Unclassified level.
10. Uniform for the Music Leaders Symposium is the Woodland Combat
Utility Uniform for all participants.
11. Travel days are 26 January (Sunday), 29 January (Wednesday)
2025 for Symposium participants. Travel expenses including lodging
and rental car are funded by the parent command.
12. Personnel are required to make their own billeting
reservations. There are several hotels in the immediate area that
are available at the government lodging rate.
13. Attendees and commands must comply with MCO 4600.40B concerning
the government travel charge card program. DTS will identify the
2025 max per diem rate for San Diego, CA.
14. Transportation and parking. Transportation is the
responsibility of the attendee. Parking is available at no cost at
the Symposium site.
15. RSVPs and questions related to the Marine Corps Music Leaders
Symposium should be sent to the HQMC CD Fleet Music POC listed
above. Coordinating instructions and finalized agenda will be
provided to confirmed attendees no later than 10 January 2025.
